Prayerful Transition
Lakeland Church is more than a building we walk into. It is a family—a people to whom we belong, united in Jesus Christ and committed to following His leading to fulfill the mission He has given us. Everywhere we look, we see Him working!
One key place our Elders have seen Him work amazingly is His preparing us for our future. After 37 years of pastoral ministry at Lakeland, Dan has sensed God calling him to a new season—one of greater presence with his family, especially his wife of 38 years. He is thrilled to continue serving at Lakeland as Pastor Emeritus, preaching occasionally and offering pastoral care and counsel.
By God's grace, we hope to have affirmed our new senior pastor, Tre Moore by November 2025.
A journey of Discernment
In the fall of 2024, the Lord stirred the hearts of Tre and Meg Moore to step forward for consideration as our next Senior Pastor. A search team was formed of more than 30 Lakeland folks unanimously recommended hiring Tre with a view to being considered for the Senior Pastor role.
Since March 2025, Tre has been shadowing Dan and increasingly stepping into leadership. This gives our entire church family time to witness, test, and affirm his calling. This is not just an Elder decision; it is a church-wide process of discernment.
If affirmed, Tre would become Co-Senior Pastor alongside Dan and begin a seven-month leadership transition. On June 1, 2026, Tre would be installed as our Senior Pastor, and Dan would officially step into the role of Pastor Emeritus.
Pastoral Confirmation Steps
October 12 (6pm)
Lakeland’s church family will meet with Pastor Tre and Meg Moore to hear Pastor Tre’s vision and discuss the report from the search committee. Our church family will also have an opportunity to have a conversation with Pastor Tre as we discern God’s call for our next Senior Pastor.
October 26 (6pm)
After two weeks of reflection from our October 12 meeting, this meeting on October 26 is an opportunity for our church family to discuss the opportunity of calling Pastor Tre to be our next Senior Pastor.
November 9 (4pm)
This is an opportunity for church members to cast their vote for Tre as the next Senior Pastor.
